Western Australian Aboriginal music artists are invited to nominate for the 2019 NAIDOC Music Awards.
Now in their second year, the awards highlight the work of Western Australian Aboriginal singers, songwriters and music artists across a range of categories.
The NAIDOC Music Awards give a platform for aspiring artists to showcase their talents to the broader industry and public, and provides important networking and professional development opportunities.
Nominations are now open and will close at the end of August 2019. The winners will be announced at a ceremony at new Fremantle entertainment venue Freo.Social on September 6, 2019.
A total of $50,000 from the Contemporary Music Fund will be provided to deliver the NAIDOC Music Awards over the next two years.
Support for Aboriginal musicians is a key part of the Contemporary Music Fund. Along with other initiatives, the fund will deliver a total of $3 million into the State’s contemporary music sector over the next four years.
