Shooting Stars Shine in their Community

Whether it is on the netball court, or running on the footy field, our Shooting Stars love engaging in positive activities.

Shooting Stars recognises the importance of meeting the interests of our participants. While netball is a key pillar of our program, we know that our girls enjoy other sports and how important it is for them to engage with their peers in these activities. We regularly work in collaboration with Community to ensure our girls are engaged in what’s happening locally.

When our participants demonstrate improved school attendance, and positive engagement with their studies, they meet their contractual agreement with the Shooting Stars Program. Shooting Stars meets our side of the agreement by facilitating engagement in a range of activities that the girls enjoy and want to be a part of…clearly this term AFL has been a favourite!

Just last week four of our Derby Shooting Stars were rewarded for their good attendance, positive behaviour and dedication towards training with an overnight camp in Broome to play football against Roebuck Primary School.

Meanwhile twelve of our Halls Creek Shooting Stars took part in the East Kimberley Women’s Football Lightening Carnival, taking out 2nd place! It was great to see the girls playing alongside their mothers, aunties, and sisters.
