Funding available to reduce litter in WA

Keep Australia Beautiful Council Western Australia (KABC) has opened its 2019 grants for projects and initiatives which aim to change littering behaviour.

Community Litter Grants of up to $10,000 are available for major initiatives or regional projects, with grants of up to $5,000 for local projects.

KABC Chairman, Michael Aspinall, said individuals and groups including local governments, small to medium sized enterprises, community groups and schools have until 17 May 2019 to apply for a Community Litter Grant.

“Littering in public areas is a big issue in WA, so we’re keen to put our support behind people who can come up with effective initiatives, projects and strategies to address the littering in their local community,” he said.

“We’re looking for initiatives that reduce litter at target areas such as sporting and recreation venues, shopping and commercial precincts, roadsides and waterways.  The focus should be on specific issues such as the incorrect disposal of cigarette butts and takeaway food containers and on initiatives that avoid creating waste.”
